St. Mary KOA Kampground & Resort at Glacier National Park, Montana

Glacier National Park is always open; it never closes.  During the winter there are some great opportunities to explore different areas of Glacier National Park if you are prepared and familiar with winter mountain conditions.  However, the visitor services are extremely limited, especially on the east side of Glacier.  The only hotel that is open in the St. Mary/Many Glacier area is Duck Lake Lodge which also serves food.  Leanin Tree cafe is open and both are located just east of Babb on Highway 464.  The St. Mary KOA is closed for the season and there are no services open in St. Mary at all.

As we look toward 2012, we see reservation requests on the rise and are preparing for another terrific summer at St. Mary KOA.   If you need to make group reservations or need sites next to each other just denote this on your reservation and we will do our best to ensure you are all together for your vacation to Glacier Park.  We highly recommend advanced reservations for cabins, RV sites and tent sites to ensure you have a site and aren’t stuck in an overflow site or driving for hours just to find a room at the last minute.

This last summer most of the construction was completed on the famous Going-to-the-Sun Road and the new road should be great for touring this summer.  As always, federal officials are in charge of clearing the snow on the Going-to-the-Sun Road and each year varies for the opening date.  In recent years, unfortunately, the date the road is cleared gets later and later and last summer posted the latest opening date in the history of the Park.  If the only reason you are planning on coming to Glacier Park is to drive the entire Going-to-the-Sun Road, you should check for the updates they post on the website and adjust your vacation plans accordingly.  Normally they open segments of the road on each side of the Park and early visitors can drive 15-20 miles in on each side.
